Act of Mutiny is a group of men who make atmospheric maritime folk music, mostly in English, but also in French and Spanish. If the occasion calls for it, a Dutch-language “seaman’s call” can also be heard! We have a versatile repertoire consisting of traditional and more modern work songs by sailors, fishermen, woodcutters and prisoners. We are always looking for new and original material and our inspiration comes from all over the world. The performance expresses great enthusiasm, and ballads about the sea, privateering, mutiny, piracy and of course feminine beauty and lost loves are interpreted with great dedication. Raw and compelling, then melancholy. We sing polyphonic a cappella, but in addition songs are also played accompanied by a variety of instruments: guitar/banjo, flute,

We started in the autumn of 2008, six members of the Leiden Seaman’s Choir “Rumor di Mare”. There are now four of us:

* Leo van der Ark * Jeroen Burggraaf * Herman Hol * René Lignac.
