Original and Traditional Cape Breton & Maritime Songs.
Born in St Peters, Cape Breton – David has been performing and writing songs for over twenty years now. Beginning in the mid to late eighties, in and around Toronto, David and his band, Strachan’s Cove, with Jamie Snider and Al Parrish, traveled across the country. David has been singing about the place he comes from – Atlantic Canada – her history and stories, tall ships, sailors and, their triumphs and struggles. David now has eleven CDs to his credit, his most recent, At Home, released in 2010.
David was employed 6 months of the year at the Maritime Museum in Halifax where he wrote historical folk songs and sang traditional and original sea songs and chanteys on a weekly basis. 2008 saw the release of his long awaited “Colours of Cape Breton” CD, a project many years in the writing and recording.
David’s other passion and sometimes “day-job” is his carpentry work under his business name, Stoneworks, out of Halifax.
