Overview

The Festival of Sea Song and Music from the Seas of the World takes place every two years on the quays of Paimpol (Côtes d’Armor, Brittany)

A fifteenth edition is a milestone to cross, especially when the trip goes into extra time for the reasons we know. In 2023, the Sea Shanty Festival confirms its “Italian Stopovers”, from port to port, to the shores of Sardinia. This edition will therefore, as promised, focus on popular Italian music, a “rital ball”, effervescent and colorful, frenetic and generous.

However, the festival will not forbid any deviation, any escapade: musical discoveries will always be the particularity of the Paimpolais festival. Once again, the Sea Shanty Festival will be dedicated to travel, dreams and escape, to encounters, to a change of scenery. Rooting, openness and of course, good humor … will be there!

On the program, world music, sea shanties, Breton music and the festoù-noz… and the “arts of the street and the quays” which have become over the years a marker of the Paimpolais festival. Not to mention the exhibitions, activities for young audiences, tastings of local products… and the two hundred or so traditional boats that are both actors and a magnificent backdrop to the festival.

The Festival du Chant de Marin, the fourth festival in Brittany, will meet you on Friday 4, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August 2023 at the port of Paimpol.

For a memorable fifteenth edition!
