Les Souillés, it’s 30 years of misty stopovers and more than 1,000 concerts.
A group of five musicians and singers from the Côtes d’Armor, the Souillés from the bottom of the hold began their adventure in 1991 during the Chant de Marin festival in Paimpol, a place regarded highly in maritime music heritage.
After performing traditional songs, they have, over the years, composed their own songs, while continuing to collect others. The repertoire is based on salty sea shanties, flavored with rum, but also melodies, in the pure maritime tradition.
Les Souillés are fueled by humor and energy, sweeping away any gloom in their path. They regularly present at major international maritime festivals and folk festivals. The group has stopped over in Brittany and France but also in Iceland, Estonia, Italy, England, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Belgium, Switzerland, and Quebec.
The album, “L’échappée belle” confirms the group’s desire to renew its repertoire, while continuing to maintain conviviality and complicity with the public.
