Martin Frost MBE
Martin is a remarkable person, with a variety of skills and talents to his name. He also has his fingers in many pies. An accomplished street performer and artist, Martin has been known as a Fire Eater, a crowd pleaser (?) and a ‘Mummers Play’ Performer and a Morris Dancer with Sompting Village Morris.
He is also a Master Craftsman keeping the skills and traditions of ‘Fore-edge Painting’ alive! One of a very small band of craftsmen worldwide! For his achievements in this art, he has had many TV appearances and achieved the well-earned accolade of an MBE last year, where he also had a nice chat to Her Majesty The Queen!
He shanghaied himself to the good ship Welly Wailer, after being told his singing with the local Morris team was less than adequate. Thankfully the Wailers are yet to realise that. His ‘harmonies’ are merely wrong notes sound loudly and his inability to pronounce certain syllables consistently amused audiences and irritates the rest of the crew. Like so many mature Morris dancers, too old to caper, Martin looks to Shanty Singing as a replacement opportunity to ‘show off’ and impress women.
