The Chicago Maritime Festival was held at the Chicago History Museum for most of its years. It was a gathering of some of the prominant names in the maritime music scene – both from the United States and Europe.

“Chicago was born at the intersection of bustling rivers and the Great Lakes. Come celebrate with us the maritime culture of Chicago, Lake Michigan and the seas beyond, with songs, stories, workshops and celebrations at the Chicago Maritime Festival.

“The festival’s workshops, concerts, and outreach program to area schools, libraries, and senior centers give a glimpse into maritime history, sea music, underwater archeology, naval shipping, weather forecasting, model boat building for kids, safety at sea, and much more!”

It ceased operation after a fourteen year run – 2003 through 2016.
