Overview
The Port Washington Pirate Festival was a privately owned festival operating in the city of Port Washington, Wisconsin from 2005 through 2012. It grew to be a very successful event, growing from attendance of about 3,000 to 30,000. The event eventually included a number of maritime-themed musical acts, variety acts and a full ensemble cast that performed sword fights and a ship-to-shore cannon battle with the Tall Ship Windy. There were parades on Saturday afternoons, large vendor and food tents and a large number of costumed attendees that gave a large economic boost to the local businesses. The event ceased operations mid-planning stage in 2013. It was replaced in 2013 by Port Harbor Family Fest, and later by Pirate Family Daze.
