The Maritime Music Directory International (MMDI) is an online repository of knowledge about the maritime music genre, largely focused on the venues and performers that thrived between the years 1830 through today. Information about these entities is either public knowledge, but curated together here, or are submitted by the individuals or representatives of the organizations participating in this directory.
Individuals or representatives of organizations are encouraged to participate in the gathering of information about entities active – past or present – in this musical form. MMDI provides the means for these outside parties to freely submit information into a common database for searchable access by the public. Entities without web access can also submit information by mail at the address below.
Visitors to this site who are browsing for information are not required to register with MMDI in any way and no personal information about them is collected, including IP address. Users providing scholarly information to the database will be required to submit sufficient personal information so that MMDI staff can vet the veracity and qualifications of the user. Once vetted, this information can be removed by request. In order to submit information to the site, the following information will remain on file: User name, vetted email address, and vetted phone number. If the user elects to withdraw from access to making or editing submissions to the site, the latter information will also be removed upon request.
COOKIES
Only active users who have been vetted to submit information to the site will have the use of cookies to track their user name and password for ease of access to their work on the MMDI website. The user is free at any time to use the tools of the browser of their choice to clear or block any or all of their cookies, should they desire.
