Whitby is famed for its fabulous fresh seafood, and its rich maritime heritage that includes Captain Cook. So, why not combine the two together in the Whitby Fish and Ships Festival?

Taking place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May, the Whitby Fish and Ships Festival is back for 2024 promising a lively celebration of Whitby’s rich fishing heritage. Join us for live cookery and fish craft demonstrations from top local chefs alongside incredible live music from local bands and sea balladeers. There will be plenty of family activities and entertainment, local exhibitors and so much more!

  • Cooking demonstrations in the Seafood Kitchen headlined by local chefs
  • Live Music from local artists organised by Whitby Brewery and Made In Whitby
  • Expert skills on display in the Fish Craft Marquee by Magpie Café, L&W Shellfish, Lockers Trawlers & Hodgson Fish
  • Get crafty with Whitby Museum, Captain Cook Museum, Pannett Art Gallery & Whitby Library. in the Museum Marquee
  • Performances of the Chip Shop Chronicles by Dogwood Productions
  • Street Theatre performances, including an appearance from an inquisitive pirate!
  • Local stall holders and exhibitors
  • Folk music at Whitby Bandstand by Whitby Sea Festival
