Overview
JR Shanty Co. is a folk duo, performing sea shanties and songs of the sea, featuring original songs about the history of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Recent venues include: the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, Hatteras, NC; Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station and Historic Site, Rodanthe, NC; Dowdy Park, Nags Head, NC; and Duck Amphitheater, Duck, NC.
Julianne and Richard are retired public school music educators, dedicated to excellence in music and the spoken word. Julianne holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts and Richard holds a Master in Music from West Virginia University.
Featuring instrumentals on guitar and cello, these lifelong music educators energetically share the history behind sailing work songs, ballads, and legends with humor and authenticity.
