“Singing Songs of the Sea with Love in Our Hearts.”

Is a group of 10 women shanty singers from Cubert, St Newlyn East and Newquay who formed in 2022, following a friend’s request to sing at a village fete. They constantly look into new songs, sometimes tweaking the words to match their style. They have enjoyed practicing traditional shanties and songs about strong Cornish women and have been fascinated when looking into the meanings of the lyrics and the stories behind them.
