Overview
Lösa Boliner, (English: “Loose Bowlines”) is a group from Aland Islands performing sailor songs i.e. shanties and sea songs, especially Scandinavian ones.
The group has 13 members both women and men, (five ladies and five gentlemen) and is characterised by good mood and a joy of singing. Most of the members have prior choir experience.
Löse Boliner has performed in Sweden, Norway and Ireland and of course at home in the Åland Islands.
The Group started out as a project in early spring 2015. The aim of forming the Group was to participate in the Baltic Shanty Festival, Åland Island in July 2015 and other events with a maritime theme.
Just in time for the Baltic Shanty Festival which is being held on Åland now during the Tall ships races in July 2024, Lösa boliner releases their first album with six sailor songs and shanties. This recording may be purchased directly from the Group.
