Tricorne is a French trio specialising in Sea Songs and Irish Folk Music.

Tricorne, its name inspired by the three-sided hat of the privateers, “is bathed in the maritime world” and its first album is entitled “Voyages” and is a musical evocation, punctuated by dialogue, of a grandfather and his granddaughter, who goes to discover the Kornadons (marine korrigans), pirate women, the shores of Ireland, the anatomy of the scallop, the port of Amsterdam, the weightlessness of the deep blue sea and the drama of Brittany.

Unfortunately the CD does not appear to be available through the usual outlets at this time.

The group is made up of: Georges Breuil on violin, Daniel Mell, vocals and Fabrice Depil on guitar.

Readers may wish to check out the first YouTube clip of the group’s Son et Lumière (Sound and Light) spectacular presentation entitled, “Par les mers” of 2012 about the life of corsaires and pirates of 400 years ago, performed on the pirate ship “L’Etoile du Roy.”

[We cannot determine at this time whether this group is still active; 3 Jan 2025.]
