Overview
Cap-Horn, a three-piece group from Brittany celebrates the sailors and the sea of today and yesteryear.
With Brittany as its home port, an aural tour of the world . . . The group Cap-Horn, send you a musical invitation to travel to a universe near and far, fascinating and emotional: the sea!
Faithful to their artistic approach, the musicians sing not only from traditional texts but also poems by authors from Ricepin to Mac-Orlan or Corbière, Georges Tanneau or Henri Giroux (member of the “Goristes”)… or their own compositions. The music of Ireland and Scotland mixes with songs from Brittany to make the trip even more universal.
The powerful and clear voice of Philippe, natural leader of the group, often gives and harmonises with that of his comrades to favour polyphonies. Jacques and Olivier also take centre stage for conducting more nostalgic or more rhythmic songs.
Philippe Vandenberghe created the group Tonnerre de Brest with Jean-Marc Lesieur, Jacques Portal and Georges Boulestreau. Despite their success and producing five albums, the adventure sadly came to an end.
Composed of three musicians, and accompanied once more by Jean-Marc Lesieur and Jacques Portal, Cap- Horn reformed in the spring of 2024 after fourteen years of absence. On the 10th January 2025, in Crozon (Finistère), they once again performed songs of sailors and the sea in a concert in tribute to the late Olivier Blaizot, the iconic guitarist of the band, who passed away in October 2024.
Note: Philippe Vandenberghe is also a celebrated marine artist, whose works may be found at:
