Overview
C.A.S.K. (Collings A cappella Shanty Krew) are a daughter and father shanty duo from Teignmouth, singing new and old shanties and forebitters, plus seasonings.
They have performed at various pirate and shanty festivals from Falmouth to Gloucester, but since lockdown they have submitted videos and been involved on live feeds for virtual festivals further afield in Oban, Scotland and on the east coast of America for “Weathering The Storm” and Canada for “Festival Des Pirates”, as well as recording music tracks being played on SoundCloud “Couleur Bleue Salee”.
Kathryn has sung since she was very young, including 11 years with Wren Music performing and teaching. Shanties have been a major part of her life since her dad Steve joined the Back Beach Boyz. Kathryn’s pure vocals refuse to be defined by genre – she sings the music she loves, blends in beautiful harmonies with Steve.
Garbed as Mermaid and Pirate, they have a strikingly different look as well as beautifully blended harmonies.
C.A.S.K. fundraise for FNDFriends, a charity which helps Kathryn to manage her Functional Neurological Disorder.
On 5 Sept 2025 C.A.S.K. announced that they released their first album, First Tipple. It is only available from them in-person at their performances for £10 or €10, with all profits going to the charity FNDFriends.
