Der Shantychor der Insel Langeoog

The Langeooger Shantychor “De Flinthörners” has set the course for the future and the generational change. The chairman Raimund Buss introduced Susanne Agena as the new director after the last concert, with whom the choir will now intensively prepare for the 2026 season. A working group led by Andreas Schüler had proposed the islander, who has completed a training as a choir director.
“Puppa” Elisabeth Peters, who co–founded the choir 40 years ago and has led it ever since, and will do so again at the New Year’s Eve concert, is pleased with the solution, as both are already working together for a seamless transition.
The program consists of many shanties and sea songs, but also includes older and newer German sea–faring romantic hits. In 2023, the club organized a festival with several shanty groups and choirs.
Under the name “Washhouse Company,” there is also a smaller group that is really good at pub trivia.

 

Der Langeooger Shantychor “De Flinthörners” hat die Weichen für die Zukunft und den Generationenwechsel gestellt. Der Vorsitzende Raimund Buss hat nach dem letzten Konzert Susanne Agena, als neue Leitung vorgestellt, mit der der Chor sich ab sofort intensiv auf die Saison 2026 vorbereiten wird. Eine Arbeitsgruppe um Andreas Schüler hatte die Insulanerin, die eine Ausbildung zur Chorleiterin abgeschlossen hat, vorgeschlagen.

„Puppa“ Elisabeth Peters, die den Chor vor 40 Jahren mitgegründet und seither geleitet hat und dies auch beim Konzert zwischen den Jahren noch einmal tun wird, freut sich über die Lösung, beide arbeiten bereits zusammen für einen nahtlosen Übergang.

Das Programm besteht aus vielen Shanties und Seasongs, beinhaltet aber auch ältere und neuere deutsche Schlager der Seefahrtsromantik. In 2023 organisierte der Verein ein Festival mit etlichen Shantygruppen und Chören.

Unter der Bezeichnung “Washhouse Company” besteht auch eine kleinere Gruppe, die für richtig Kneipenstimmung sorgt.
