Overview
Based upon a Dutch idea, a small selection of shanty groups get together at an event called a “ShantyCafe” for an afternoon of shanties and sea songs, here at Levington on the banks of the beautiful River Orwell. These Suffolk events usually featuring four or five top shanty acts from the eastern region of the U.K. In the past, groups from The Netherlands have also participated.
There is free entry to the event, with a collection in aid of the East Anglian Sailing Trust, a charity which provides opportunities for disabled sailors to get on the water.
