The Solway Buoys Sea Shanty Singers is for men who love sea shanties and enjoy singing.

There are no auditions, all are welcome and as the songs come from an oral tradition, there is no requirement to read music. We sing traditional songs, specially arranged in 3 parts for a range of inexperienced and experienced singers. We currently have over 50 crew members ‘on our books’ but are always on the lookout for more.

Sessions are held on  Mondays, 7.30 – 9.30pm.

The group originated from an idea by Ukulele star Stuart Butterworth who had a musical mission to form a sea shanty singing group for men in Dumfries and Galloway.

The Solway Buoys may often be found performing alongside its sibling, The Solway Shegulls.
