Waves of Harmony

Waves of Harmony is a group of ladies from Weston-super-Mare and surrounding areas who sing in the a-capella style, usually in 4-part harmony.

They love to entertain and share our enjoyment with audiences far and wide.

“In February 2011, following an advert in the local newspaper, eight ladies met and decided to form an a cappella group. By the end of that year, that group had grown to over twenty. We now have a chorus of over twenty-five members.

Our current musical director is Stephen Derrick, a former music teacher and a founder member of the Harry Browns shanty group. Stephen, together with his wife Helen, are continuing to coach, develop and progress our group, to more advanced levels.

Why not come and join us? You will find that we are a friendly group and you will be sure of a warm welcome.

Age is no deterrent as we accept all ages from 16 to 70+!

We sing a wide range of songs from old ballads to modern up-beat songs, to songs from the shows, to inspirational music.

Experience is not essential as we can provide any help and training you might need, as well as music and teaching tracks, all we need is your enthusiasm.

Why not come along and see us on a practice evening, held every Tuesday, 7.30pm to 9.30pm at The Blakehay Theatre, 20 Wadham Street, Weston super Mare, BS23 1JZ.

The charity we are supporting this year is Mcmillan Cancer Support. In the past we have raised funds for Parkinson’s UK, RNLI, Weston Hospicecare, the British Legion Poppy Appeal, Parkinson’s Disease Foundation and for Visually Impaired Bowlers.”
