“Zrefowani – a band playing sailing music with a pinch of folk.”

Zrefowani – is a sea shanty and folk band from Poland. They began performing online during the pandemic in 2020 and have since performed dozens of live concerts. They are gradually expanding their repertoire of original songs to lock themselves in the studio this fall and record their first album. Their instrumental lineup consists of guitars, violins, bodhran and the vocals are a combination of strong male and female voices. Their repertoire encompasses a wide range of styles, from dance melodies and energetic melodies to reflective ballads. Whatever the style choice, the band’s main wish is to have fun with the audience.

The history of the formation of the band is quite unusual, because it all started with … a lockdown. When we were locked in our homes due to the pandemic, the concerts moved online. Reflinka also started touring online, and in fact that’s when she returned to active playing. On one of the streams, the idea of creating a band sprouted in her head. Potential candidates were quickly identified. The idea was to just play together. It was supposed to be a way to survive hard, pandemic times. We played our first concert, not yet under the name Zrefowani, on June 21, 2020 at the Pirates’ Nest in Warsaw, with only a few remote rehearsals behind us. Soon after, Radomir wrote his first original text, and in a moment the next one and the next… None of us expected that Reflinka’s spontaneous idea would turn into something more. The pandemic is over and we are sailing on! We create our own, original material, thus getting ready to record our debut album.
