Overview
Alan Warren Whitbread was a prolific, well-known and loved maritime music performer. He passed away during the height of the Covid 19 pandemic on April 3, 2020.
He had an extensive range of shanties & sea songs, accompanying some with a lovely old English concertina. That, together with his comprehensive maritime knowledge, made for a varied and entertaining performance.
His first love was for traditional songs but his repertoire also includes some more recent compositions.
Quite apart from all the main UK shanty festivals, he travelled widely for his shanty singing, including to Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Netherlands & USA.
