Overview
The Barbary Ghosts was a San Francisco-based band that blended folk and maritime songs into its repertoire. Joan Wilson Rueter appeared to have been the head of the group, and when the group broke up, she went on to perform with a number of other groups, such as Whiskey and Women, Penny Opry and False Bottom Band.

The group seems to have disbanded sometime after its appearance at the Chicago Maritime Festival in 2014.
