Overview
Before Yesterday’s Men, before Stormalong John, there was … Black Dog!
In the words of legendary maritime musician, Arthur William Garnett, “Harry, Jack and me had been performing as a trio called “Black Dog” since about 1976, and joined Stormalong John at its inception in 1984. So for a few years we sang with both.
“We had sang the previous year in Rostock in a major International Song Contest called “Menschen und Meer” broadcast across all of the eastern bloc countries. Estimated 250 million viewers. It was from this that we were booked for the tv programme the following year.
“Regarding the video that I recently posted on Facebook: It’s from a television programme called “The Harbour Bar” Filmed in the television studios in Rostock, East Germany in 1988.”
