Overview
La Bordée, (“Broadside” in English) is a choir of men composed of about thirty singers and musicians who interpret the songs of traditional and contemporary sailors. La Bordée was born in 1998 from a friendship between lovers of this rich maritime heritage and the desire to share it with as many people as possible. Originally from Trégunc, a small coastal town in southern Finistère, the group has gradually expanded its reputation throughout Brittany, France and abroad.
Within the Voix de Terre Marine Association, which brings together Océanis and La Bordée, the group has recorded 5 CDs and provided about thirty concerts a year on different stages in Brittany and elsewhere. For example, they sang on the stages of the “Festival du chant de marins” in Paimpol, the “Festival Interceltique” in Lorient, the “Cornouailles” in Quimper, the “Filets Bleus” in Concarneau, the “Festival International de chant de marins” in Falmouth (England), the “Festival Interceltic” in Kilkenny (Ireland). In addition, “La Bordée” organises every two years (even years) the “Fête du Chant de Marin”, (a “Festival of Sailors Songs”) at the Pointe de Trévignon in Trégunc, a festival where it invites some of the best groups around.
