Overview
Cap Ouest was originally a four-piece group operating out of Guérande in France, specialising in sea songs, songs from Quebec and French Chansons.
Its line up was:
Jean-Pierre Moreau
Singing, guitar, “Quebec spoons.” Singer and guitarist known and recognised for having lead the group Brocéliande for 30 years, Jean-Pierre Moreau created in 2005 a variable formation: the group Cap Ouest.
Isabelle Lopez Moreau
Singing, Banjo, “Quebec musical spoons”, percussion. Coming from rock, she took her first steps in traditional singing with Brocéliande in 2001. She found her place in the group Cap Ouest by performing, in duet or solo, French variety songs, sailors’ songs and rhythmic songs from Quebec or Brittany.
Alain Cloyer Die
Confirmed musician for 40 years, former bassist guitarist of the groups Les Capitans (with a repertoire of Shadows songs) and On The Rock. Alain joined the group in 2018, when Cap Ouest wanted to expand its repertoire and variety of French songs. The adventure continued until 2022 for our great delight.
Michel Grasset
An accomplished musician, choirmaster, he responded to the group’s call in 2007. Until 2017, he brought his arrangements, his ear and the rhythms of his double bass to our concerts. From 2017 to 2024, he continued to advise us during rehearsals, always listening to us. With all our gratitude and friendship.
As at 2025, the group continues to perform as a two-piece made up of Isabelle and Jean-Pierre Moreau.
