Captain & the Blades

Captain & the Blades are a pirate shanty trio. Including Swillin’ Billy Flynn on vocals and gazouki, (That’s an 8 string instrument built like a guitar but strung like an Irish bouzouki) Shelley “The Blade” Shiraz on Vocals and gazouki, and Kitty Hawke on backing vocals and bodhran. Some of you may recognise us from our regular exploits with The Pirates of St. Piran. But we also perform as a trio in smaller venues, that don’t have room for a full pirate crew. We play at pubs and folk sessions all over Cornwall, performing traditional sea shanties and our own original songs of the sea, all in a unique and rumbustious way, in full pirate attire. And we do warn you, that audience participation is compulsory.
