Overview
Often found as the “backing group” to Richard Grainger, the Endeavour Shantymen was formed in Whitby prior to the first visit of ‘HM Bark Endeavour’ replica in 1997.
They were the host group at Scarborough Seafest for 12 years, The Captain Cook Festival in Middlesbrough and Whitby, and more recently at the Whitby Sea Festival. They have however had a few changes in personnel, although 3 of the 6 original members still remained as at February 2018. The line up for the Cook250 weekend was Steve Dawes, Richard Grainger, John Lawson, Kevin Young and Tony O’Neil.
