Entre Rade et Ria is a large choir based in Port-Louis, Brittany, devoted to the promotion of arts, culture, and sciences—with a special focus on choral singing.

The choir’s mission is to make polyphonic singing accessible to all. The only requirement to join is a love of singing—no prior experience needed.

The group is made up of around 40 singers, with women making up approximately three-quarters of the ensemble.

Its repertoire centres on songs of the sea and sailors, composed mostly by Breton artists, with original arrangements and harmonisations crafted by the choir director, Jean-Claude Laurant, and accompanied by two musicians.

With its warm, family-like atmosphere, the choir gives around 15 performances each year, many of which support charitable causes.

Note: The choir’s name, “Entre Rade et Ria,” can be loosely translated as “Between the Harbour and the River Valley.”
