Overview
The Esperance South Sea Shantymen is one of the youngest groups to form in Australia as part of the crest of increased interest in maritime and shanty music. While there are two maritime music themed events in Australia, this group also performs at Lucky Bay Brewing, as seems fitting for a maritime crew. They also perform at the Museum Village Markets and the Taylor St Quarters.
This group assembled in 2024 and released their first music video on YouTube on 28 Jan 2025. It looks to be about a dozen fellows with an accordion and guitar, sharing the shanties at Lucky Bay Brewery, the Rotary Club, Travellers Inn and other, fine local establishments.
Curated History
As the group does not have a website it is challenging to offer more details here about them here. There are about a dozen of them, largely vocalists, but accompanied by mandolin, guitar and accordion.
