Folksänger Gunnar Wiegand

Gunnar Wiegand is a folk singer with body and soul. He’s been singing and playing for over 40 years. Life music – solo as well as in a wide variety of formations. Maritime Folk Music, folksongs, Blues, Country & Western, Oldies, but also Gospels, Shanties, own pieces and German traditional songs belong to his repertoire. With Guitar and his unmistakable voice he also appeared internationally on various stages. So his paths have also crossed with many folk singers (Werner Lämmerhirt, Hamish Imlach, Iain MacKintosh, Alex Campbell, Wilson Family and more). This resulted in Gunnar Wiegand committs himself to the tradition of the songwriters of the 60s and 70s. In addition to his solo tracks he is currently also a member of the Lauenstein/Hamelner band “FolkStones”. A special feature of his work are his own folk songs as well as authorized translations of folk and sea songs and chansons from English and French. Some of these songs will be featured on his Maritim Folk Album, which is scheduled to be released in early 2023. Performances, among others: Bie Daip Shanty- & Folkfestival in Appingedam/NL 2022, Liereliet Seasong & Shantyfestival in Workum/NL 2022, Tanz- und Folkfest Rudolstadt 2022, Folk im Park in Bremen/D 2022, Folk festivals in Hamburg, Tonder Folkfest Denmark, Edinburgh Folk Festival (GB), Shantyfestival Workum (NL), Folkfest am Ith (Salzhemmendorf), Radio MDR Kultur (Interview and Lifesong), Radio Aktiv Hameln, Pflasterfest in Hameln, Open Airs in Börry (among others with “Godewind” and “North Sea Gas” from Edinburgh), musical accompaniment of various literary evenings, various performances throughout Germany, Ireland, France, Poland, Denmark and the Netherlands.
