Overview
Gabare is a group of ten singers and musicians from Brittany that will take you on a journey around the world.
Since 1997, Gabare has performed on stage bringing to the audience its repertoire of sailors’ songs. These men from the Nantes region have set sail for the love of singing and music.
The five musicians do not claim any musical training. They venture into the repertoire of French singing, a collegial choice, an attachment to tradition.
“Two singers, depending on the tones, lead the group but the musicians also sing. It is the music and the musicians that set the rhythm and the tone. They then work on counter-chants. The common point is the musical ear. Over the years, we have acquired know-how,” says Christian Chotard.
Each year, the group embarks on ten to fifteen shows. “In Brittany, the song of sailors is a culture. When the audience dances, we are delighted. ”
They have to date produced 3 CDs, which are available for purchase direct from the group.
