Overview
The Gabiers du Passage is a large, French song group made up of 19 female singers, 17 male singers, 4 musicians, 1 choir director and a sound engineer.
They strive to preserve and revisit the traditional songs of the sailors that once resonated on the large sailing boats. But their repertoire has also ventured into the creation of contemporary and personal songs, in French, Breton, English and even Corsican, these compositions evoking the sea, distant horizons and happy stopovers.
Note: A “Gabier” in French may be translated as; a sailor who was particularly responsible for the maintenance of the mast, the rigging as well as the manoeuvring of the boats and anchors.
