(Probably) London’s Premier Sea Shanty Crew …

The HogEye Men, from London (UK), have a huge repertoire and sing authentic a cappella shanties in a traditional manner, plus a variety of other maritime songs. All members of the crew have long experience of traditional folk, particularly maritime, music and song.  Originally formed 17 years ago, and much respected on the shanty circuit and at maritime festivals, “The Hogs” specialize in authentic unaccompanied shanty singing, drawing on their wide singing experience and love of the maritime genre.

One weekend every month, resident sea shanty groups, The HogEye Men and Swinging the Lead transform the famous tea clipper Cutty Sark‘s ‘Tween Deck with the harmonies of sea shanties, traditional working songs. The groups perform on alternate days to entertain visitors to this famous attraction.

The Hogeye Men perform on the first Saturday and Swinging the Lead on the first Sunday of the month (*).

(*) Note: Performances take place over the first weekend of the month when both Saturday and Sunday are in that month. For example, if the 1st of the month was a Sunday, the shanty sessions would be held the following weekend.

The crew also hosts a free monthly pub singaround in London at the Horseshoe Inn by London Bridge, (26 Melior Street SE1 3QP) on the third Sunday of every month where all are welcome.
