Overview

Hoolie was a Celtic/Maritime-themed trio from Bay City.  “Hoolie is an internationally acclaimed trio specializing in maritime music, songs and stories of the [sea].”  The band members were Jerry Casault, Bruce McCarthy, Jr. and Katherine Bach Morris.  When Jerry and Bruce traveled to European gigs without Kathy they styled themselves as, “The Two Boys from Bay City”.

Jerry Casault was also in charge of hiring musicians for the Bay City Tall Ship Celebration (also known as Ballads & Brews) which was part of the Tall Ships America Great Lakes Challenge tour that happens every three years.  This enabled him to quid pro quo Hoolie into many other maritime-themed festivals across North America and Europe.

It seems that around 2017 health and personal issues prevented Cassault from communicating with certain members of the world maritime music community, including the other members of Hoolie, according to Macartney.   The Hoolie website has disappeared and their Facebook page has not been updated since 2012.

In 2019, Macartney, 70 of Midland, Michigan, died.  Morris became a member of the traditional folk band, La Compagnie Musical Dance Troupe, with Genot Picor and others.
