Overview
April 25, 2014
Dear Friends, Indygo fans,
We would like to announce that after 9 years of singing and performing together, Indygo is disbanding and ending its career. It’s time for changes, time for finding our own path in an adult world and an adult life, be it private or artistic.
It’s difficult to show how grateful we are for so many things and to so many people, but in short, we wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all those years and all the experiences we’ve gained at the festivals in Poland and abroad. We thank all of you who have always supported us and cheered on us. We also want to thank those of you who helped and contributed to the growth of our group and our many achievements and successes. We will never forget and cherish this time, as well as all the friendships and aquaintances we’ve made, which hopefully will live on, even after our disbanding.
But don’t worry! Most of us don’t finish their adventure with music, so keep your eyes and ears open and hopefully, you will hear from us again, maybe even quite soon.
Much love, Indygo
Indygo was a 2005 schoolgirl project of the Youth Cultural Center in Gliwice, under the supervision of Dominika Płonka. Eight young women were assembled to create a cultivated sound and a presence on the maritime music scene. Under Płonka’s tutelage the group had a wonderful sound that was realized in many European concert appearances and two CDs. The group was Izabella Flasińska, Sylwia Grochowska, Karolina Wolna, Sara Mroczkowska, Agnieszka Wypych, Natalia Daszkowska, Aneta Daszkowska and Aleksandra Sieja.
In 2010, the girls released their debut album, Oddech Morza (“Breath of the Sea”), which brought them into the homes of many eager maritime music fans. Their No Longer Whaling Wives EP released in 2013; they toured to France for the prestigious festival in Paimpol. Just when they were in the hearts and minds of the entire sea shanty community they disbanded. Of the eight women, only Aleksandra Winnicka [née Sieja] continues with music; she is teaching under the name Pani od Głosu – “Lady of the Voice”.
