Jean-Jacques Blanchard, musician and choirmaster.

“I always have a little melody running through my head.”

After a solid training at the conservatoire, especially in choir direction, Jean-Jacques Blanchard taught music in La Manche and honed his talents with the La Chamade choir. This enthusiast took the reins of the group seriously, aware of the challenge and aided by his experience of sailors’ songs performed with the group Caliorne, which he lead in Brest in 1992 and then in 1994.

He, became the director of the choir, “l’écho des marais” based in Méautis in the Manche in 2016, and immediately began sharing his passion for music.

This singer of both popular and sailors’ songs has always made music, piano, violin, guitar, he has always been bathed in music.

Jean-Jacques Blanchard has often performed on the old boats, he participates in the Dieppe boat festivals in La Rochelle and also appeared in concert with a group of friends, Les joyeux galériens.

These day, he mainly travels “alone with his guitar” and continues to enchant his audience from Dieppe to La Rochelle. He is frequently invited on prestigious boats during maritime rallies in Brest, Saint-Malo, or during the great Armada of Rouen. His enthusiasm, good humour, and a touch of humour give his concerts a festive air that the public is always happy to share.
