Kallet, Epstein & Cicone

Cindy Kallet, Ellen Epstein and Michael Cicone have have performed together in concerts, coffeehouses, and festivals throughout New England since 1981. Their close harmonies inspire enthusiastic responses from audiences and critics alike. The trio sings both a capella and accompanied by guitar and hammered dulcimer, drawing material from contemporary and traditional music of the British Isles and North America.

It’s a bittersweet announcement. We started in 1990, as part of a nationwide movement to support the return of refugees to their villages in Northern El Salvador, and to pressure the US government into ending its decades of destruction in Central America. W promoted hundreds of concert events in Watertown, as fundraisers and FUNRAISERS. We raised thousands for a variety of projects in Tremedal, then Nueva Esperanza. We sold thousands of dollars in crafts and coffee from repopulated villages. We hosted informational events and initiated local political actioN. We we’re proudly part of a national network. called US-El Salvador Sister Cities. As a cohesive group of 10 volunteers we met regularly to organize concerts, to be in close touch with our friends in the villages, and to plan trips and material aid deliveries.
We are enormously proud of what we have accomplished. Our crowning achievement is a young beautiful crop of educated young people who we ushered through university. That includes a doctor, nurses, teachers, environmental specialists, and others.
It is only logical that our last concert be the TRIO. Alex has kept exact records, but my guess is that we’ve hosted Kallet, Epstein and Cicone at least 20 times over those years. We are grateful to them and their sizable audience for the music over the years, and for the support you have given to our Watertowen-El Salvador project.THANK YOU!!
