Overview
Kat yn ‘t Seil is Flemish for “Cat in the Sails”. Founded in 1988, this is a group of musicians from Haulerwijk, Friesland, Netherlands. Its members are: Marita Kruijswijk (flute, shawm, vocals), Ankie van der Meer (guitar, shawm, vocals), Nanne Kalma (banjo, cittern, double bass, guitar, violin, vocals), and Marian Nesse (accordion, vocals).
Kajto (meaning “kite” in Esperanto) is the name adopted by this group for their performances of Esperanto material. For most of their history Kat yn ‘t Seil and Kajto were identical ensembles performing different repertoires under different names.
