Lawro (Lawrence Hoy) is an award-winning songwriter and poet who performs with top exponent of traditional song and wonderful guitarist, Steve (Higgins) to deliver a unique brand of the very best in Maritime Songs.

With standards like John Kanaka and traditional sea songs such as The Holy Ground, The Leaving Of Liverpool, The Mingulay Boat Song and Billy O’Shea, they have a repertoire as wide as the Atlantic

They play traditional and contemporary songs of the sea, including self-penned songs, some written as sea shanties (Shantyman; Blow Ye Trade Winds, Blow) and some better defined as ‘songs of the sea’: eg – songs like ‘Lady Penrhyn’ from the album “Beyond The Seas, a tribute to those on Australia’s first fleet (Lady Penrhyn was one of the ships on that voyage.)

They may also be found performing under the name, “The Lancashire Lads” and as a trio / quartet . . performing Irish folk songs and music under the name of, “The Rare Ould Times.”
