The Lowestoft Longshoremen are a choral group of 15 who sing shanties and songs of the sea. Originally formed over 20 years ago to preserve the history of shanty singing and the local fishing industry, the group has gone on to perform at venues all over East Anglia and beyond

Much of the Lowestoft Longshoremen’s repertoire will be familiar. Wearing the reddish brown smocks (which are a nod to the traditional local sail colours of yesteryear) The Longshoremen soon have audiences joining in with choruses and actions representative of the graft, hauling ropes, climbing rigging and many other tasks of a sailors life.

The Lowestoft Longshoremen are a not for profit group, with all profits going to local and national charities.
