Founded in 2020 by Musical Director Mark Hewitt, Lyme Bay Moonrakers is a vocal group of 20 men and women from the Lyme Regis and Axminster areas.

The group sing mainly unaccompanied songs of the sea, in bold, new musical arrangements. Folk songs, ballads and shanties, as well as new original songs, feature in their pop-up performances and yearly theatre shows.

“We perform regularly in Lyme Regis and surrounding areas with ‘pop up’ performances as well as performances of a theatre show each year.

You can regularly hear us singing in 19th century-style costume, supporting the Blessing of the Boats in Lyme Regis, the Lyme Regis RNLI Lifeboat Week, The Lyme Fossil Festival, The Boat Building Academy Open Day, The Lyme Folk Festival, The Shaftesbury Fringe Festival. We’ve performed our theatre show at The Royal Manor Theatre (Portland), The Marine Theatre (Lyme Regis), The Gateway Theatre (Seaton) and Bridport Arts Centre.”
