Rick Spencer has a long pedigree in the maritime music scene.  Singer, instrumentalist and composer, Rick Spencer travels widely performing a variety of contemporary and traditional folk songs from North America and the British Isles.  This performance schedule takes him to concert stages, schools, museums, libraries, historical societies and folk festivals.  His music has been heard throughout the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom.  He was a founding member of the storied group, Forebitter, the house band of the Mystic Seaport Museum.  He currently performs as a solo artist, as a duo with Dawn Indermuehle, and as a member of the The Jovial Crew in Connecticut.

Rick Spencer and Dawn Indermuehle are recognized internationally for their work as developers and presenters of theme-based historic music programs in the American folk and popular music traditions. Their presentations are well-researched, informative and highly entertaining.

Rick’s resume includes 20 years as a staff musician, researcher and program developer at Mystic Seaport Museum. He toured widely in America and Europe as a member of the sea chantey quartet “Forebitter.” Rick worked at two historic house museums in eastern Connecticut. He was site administrator of the Hempsted Houses in New London, as well as curator and director of the Dr. Ashbel Woodward Museum in Franklin. He served on the board of directors of the New London County Historical Society.
