Overview
Born in Angers, 8th March 1947 and Accordionist for over thirty years, Robert Bathe’s repertoire consists mainly of sailors’ songs to which he allowed himself to add some personal variants. The songs of Loire constitute the other part of his repertoire.
Over the course of five years in Poland, he became a musician. For thirty years, Robert Barthe has not been separated from his accordion, especially not for those sailors’ songs that are dear to him.
Robert has been adding to his numerous adventures for many years. To his credit: a career as a lifeguard and as a sports educator in a club. Between swimming across the English Channel in 1984, taking part in several marathons, or long bike tours such as crossing the United States or the round of the Baltic Sea, Robert the Globe Trotter never stands still.
Being without an audience during the Covid-19 pandemic, and without the moments of sharing that he loves at the sailor’s song festival in Paimpol (Côtes-d’Armor) or at other cultural meetings, Robert Barthe used the time to write a new book. After collections of poetry or travelogues, it tells the story of twins who question the succession of their father, a miller by trade.
