Overview
Sailors Three was the gathering of veteran folk singer David HB Drake, Julie Thompson (recently separated from Julie & Brownie) and Dean Calin of Bounding Main. The group came together to provide a maritime-themed band for the Thunder Bay Maritime Festival in Alpena, Michigan in 2004. The group got on well, with David and Julie also working together on their 60s-70s music revival group, Dangerous Folk, and Dean awkwardly not playing an instrument at the time, but congenial, all the same. There were expectations that the group would perform more gigs as the opportunity presented itself, but each of the members’ individual schedules were too busy for them to recreate this trio.
