An inclusive shanty singing crew based in Tresaith, West Wales
In the beginning, The Bad Latitudes (renamed from Saith Shanty Crew) grew from a fondness for songs of the sea, struggle and sheds. The Bad Latitude members hail from the area around Tresaith in Ceredigion, West Wales, and can often be found singing in Skippers, their local pub right on the sea. Their song repertoire is many and varied, from rousing shanties to reflective songs of absence and loss. The Crew also sing some Welsh shanties and a few non-shanties thrown in the mix.
Aspiring to include natural harmonies with most choruses and to use to the maximum the great voices at their disposal, most of the crew take a turn at leading a song or verse. The Crew’s mission is to have a lot of fun, with performances noted for their public engagement, humour, occasional loudness and contrasting wistfulness. The crew have now added a song about sheds.
