Scuttlebutt Shanty Crew

We are Scuttlebutt Shanty, a community shanty crew in Ilfracombe, North Devon, bringing swagger and revelry to any event. Book us or join us.

We started singing together as a local community get-together in early 2024 but have rapidly carved our niche in shanty (and pirate) community, with our harmonies as well as our rowdy songs. We do also perform our own material. 

We’ve performed on the main stage at Brixham Pirate Festival, as well as performing at Cockwood and Mevagissey. We have performed for numerous private events, and charitable events for the RNLI, who we support through donating a percentage of our fees. The crew bring their full “pirate’ mode to events!

They perform every Thursday at The Olive Branch in Fore Street, Ilfracombe from 19:00.

On 27^th and 28^th June 2026, we are hosting Ilfracombe’s very own Shanty Festival, with multiple venues signed up and groups from across the world registered to come and perform.

We are open to performing across the UK or overseas.
