An enthusiastic group from Oudewater.

Just like our name, our repertoire is very varied, but always with a connection to the sea.

Seyl is Old Dutch for sail. Treyl stands in front of the rigging, which includes strong steel cables. That is a completely different material than the textile tarpaulin. Very different, but both oh so necessary for sailing ships. Just like our music, which can be both exuberant and serious. but always connected with life on and near the water.

That water can be the sea in distant exotic places, but also of the nearby Hollandsche IJssel. We sing about rivers, lakes, seas, boats, men and women and love. We especially sing about this last subject, often with a wink.

The repertoire consists of Dutch and English songs.

Seyl & Treyl consists of:

Janet van Diest (vocals, accordion and bass ukulele)
Bert Dost (vocals, guitar)
Hilde Hegeman (vocals, accordion and flute)
Jan Scholman (vocals and percussion)
Hans Dusseldorp (violin)
