SHIPWRECKED SHANTY (aka Quinn’s & Heinold’s Sea Shanty Crew)
Once upon a tide, a raucous tradition thrived at Quinn’s Lighthouse in Oakland, where weekly sea shanties echoed off the waterfront for decades. Afterward, the die-hards would stumble over to Heinold’s First and Last Chance Saloon for a little extra mischief — a shanty after-party affectionately known as the Slanty Shanty.
Then — the pandemic hit.
Out of the fog emerged a scrappy, sea-loving crew of musicians and community members who just couldn’t let the music die. From those waves rose Shipwrecked Shanty — a loose, roving band of shanty singers, harmony howlers, and chorus-loving landlubbers now hosting pop-up singalongs at ports around the Bay Area. We’re still searching for a permanent harbor, but for now, we’re drifting joyfully from dock to dock, pub to patio.
🎶 Our compass points toward community. We believe singing together builds joy, connection, and a sense of place — even if that place is full of goats, broken pianos, and salty language.
💰 Toss a coin to your shanty crew: We survive on donations, good will, and the occasional well-placed rum bribe. If you’d like to help us keep this ship afloat (and the harmonies in tune), please consider supporting us:
