St Ives duo Spaven Mor – Cornish for ‘Calm Sea’ – return to the Shanty Shout in 2025 with their ‘Songs Of The Sea’ set.

Claire Young has been a long-term member of a range of 4-part harmony and shanty groups in St. Ives and as one of the founding members of the November event is heavily involved in organising and delivering the St Ives Shanty Shout.  Folk musician Kev Sutcliffe has been a regular performer on the St Ives music scene for many years.  Claire and Kev joined forces in 2022 to form Spaven Mor, bringing their close vocal harmonies to bear on a range of acoustic music styles.  They play regularly at venues in St Ives and surrounding areas and while on their travels further afield.  At the Shanty Shout their set will blend shanties with folk songs that embrace tales of mermaids, fishing, shipwrecks, mining and more.
