Cornwall’s Foot Stomping Celtic Folk Band

The Stowes are a band from Cornwall, UK who play a stimulating mix of traditional and original songs, rousing sea shanties and scintillating, foot stomping instrumental arrangements of mainly Cornish, Irish and Scottish origin, as well as some American old time influence thrown in for good measure.

Over the past 7 years The Stowes have performed around the UK. They have also toured in America and played with such bands and performers as Bohola, Colleen Raney and Hanz Araki.

With a full-bodied combination of Piano Accordion, Bouzouki, Tenor and 5 String Banjo, and Stomp Box, The Stowes are on a mission to re-invent Cornish music and present it to the world!

“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed your music and songs. It’s clear you’re all passionate about what you do but want to have fun with it too, and that’s what it’s all about as far as I’m concerned.”

Mark Bazeley – Dartmoor

It was announced on Facebook on 6 September 2024, “After 12 years, new members, countless beers and many, many laughs with new friends, we have reached the point where the band as we all know it will finish. This is a mutual decision and one that we have naturally arrived at. Our last scheduled gig will fittingly be with our good friends The Countrymen and Barrett’s Privateers for the charity concert in aid of Children’s Hospice SW on October the 18th. We are also looking at doing a ‘Stowes Finale’, details of which will be released once confirmed.”
